The women here in Boudhawadi decided it was time to do something for ourselves. We run Sindhubhoomi Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited out of House Number 341 B. It is a small space but it works for us. Most of us have been farming our whole lives so we know the struggle. We get together in the mornings to discuss who is doing what and how we can get our produce to the market without too much trouble. It’s not a big fancy operation. We have children to look after and houses to run as well. Sometimes the kids are running around the office while we are trying to count the bags of grain. It’s a bit chaotic but it’s our life. We don’t use any of those big words companies use. We just talk about the dirt and the seeds and the price of diesel. Being in a small place like Boudhawadi means everyone is your cousin or your neighbor. We help each other out when someone’s crop is failing. The building isn't much to look at but it's ours. We spend a lot of time on our feet and our hands are always stained with something from the fields. It’s honest work and we are just trying to make a living for our families. That is really all there is to it and we just keep going day by day.
