Our base of operations is at G.No. 198/3 in the village of Ravande. It’s part of the Kopargaon Taluka in Ahmednagar district. Shambhonageshwar Farmers Producer Company Limited is the name we use for our group. We aren’t a huge corporation with a lot of money. We are just a bunch of neighbors who realized we should probably work together instead of competing. Ahmednagar is a tough place for farming sometimes, with the water issues and the market swings. We meet up at our Ravande location to plan out what we’re going to do for the season. The office is pretty basic. It’s just a room with a few tables and some chairs that have seen better days. We don't have air conditioning or a fancy coffee machine. We mostly drink water from the earthen pot and talk about the price of onions or sugarcane. It’s honest work, and it takes up most of our time. People in Kopargaon know us as the ones who are always trying to find a better way to move the crops. We don't make any big promises to anyone. We just show up every day and try to handle the paperwork and the transport. It’s a long road, but having the company makes us feel a little more organized. There is always something to do, whether it's filing papers or talking to truck drivers.
