You’ll find us at Plot No 48 in Tagad Wasti, which is in the Aroha Nisarg area of Bhistabag, Ahmednagar. Sanmitra Farmer Producer Company Limited is what we are called. We are a bunch of locals who decided to team up. Ahmednagar is a place where farming is everything. We started this because it’s hard to do everything on your own when you have a small plot of land. At our office, we talk about seeds, fertilizers, and where to sell the next batch of onions or whatever is in season. The office is just a plain room with a few chairs and a table. It’s not some corporate headquarters. We usually have people dropping by all day to ask questions or just to have a chat about the weather. If the rain is late, everyone is worried. If it’s good, everyone is busy. We try to help each other out with the logistics of moving crops. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the books. We don't use big words or have a fancy mission. We just want to keep our farms running and make enough to take care of our families. It’s a simple way of living, really. Tagad Wasti is a growing area, and being near Bhistabag makes it easy for the farmers to reach us. We spend a lot of time just sitting on the plastic chairs, drinking tea and looking at the clouds.
