Our group is based out of Shinganapur, which is a quiet enough spot in the Kopargaon area of Ahmednagar. We are located right at Survey Number 24/1. It’s not hard to find if you are coming through the main part of the village. Saisanjivani Farmers Producer Companylimited started because a few of us realized that farming on your own is getting harder every single year. We spend most of our mornings out in the fields and then come by the office in the afternoon to sort out the paperwork. The weather in Kopargaon can be a bit unpredictable, so we spend a lot of time talking about the water and the seeds. We aren't professionals at writing these things, we just know how to grow things and how to work together. The office is just a plain room where we keep our records and meet with the other farmers from the neighborhood. It’s a local effort, run by people who actually live here and see each other at the market every week. We don't use any big words or have a complicated plan. We just try to get the harvest sorted and see if we can get a better handle on the business side of things. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes the power goes out, but we keep the doors open and the work moving along as best as we can. Every day is a bit of a struggle, but it's better together.
