Our address is 280/1 in Dhawada, which is part of the Sillod area in Aurangabad. Rukhudu Agro Shetkari Producer Company Limited isn't a corporate office with a lobby. It’s more like a gathering place for those of us who spend our lives in the dirt. We started this because we were tired of being told how to run things by people who have never held a shovel. Most days, the place is crowded with people coming in to talk about their harvests or the price of fertilizer. We have a lot of tea and sometimes a lot of arguments, but it’s all in good spirit. The walls have some maps on them and maybe a calendar that’s a month behind. We aren't worried about being polished or looking professional in the way city people expect. We care about whether the seeds are good and if the rain is going to hold off until we're ready. Sillod is a good place to be, even if the roads get a bit rough in the monsoon. We just take things one day at a time. If someone needs help with their paperwork or wants to join the group, they just walk in. We don't make them wait. It’s just a group of farmers trying to help other farmers, and that’s plenty for us. There isn't much more to say about it than that. We just keep our feet on the ground.
