Rajkala Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by a group of women from around Mugat in the Mudkhed area. We use Milind B Hatkar’s place at 203/2 as our main contact point. In Nanded, life revolves around the fields and the seasons, and we wanted a way to manage our own work more directly. This company is basically just us ladies coming together to figure out how to sell our produce without getting a bad deal. It is not a very formal setup if you look at it. We spend most of our time outside anyway. At the address in Mugat, we keep our basic supplies and do the registration stuff that the government asks for. Being a producer company means we can buy things like fertilizer in larger batches which saves a little bit of money for everyone involved. It’s a lot of talking and planning over tea. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone like that. We just know who grows what in the village and we try to coordinate the timing. Nanded can be a tough place for farming when the heat picks up, but having this group makes the hard days feel a bit easier. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land we have.
