Niyojit Farmer Producer Company Limited is a local group from Somthana. Our main address is at Haribhau Ramkrushna Thakre’s house, number 658. We are all neighbors here and we’ve been working the fields in this area for as long as we can remember. Somthana is a small place and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We decided to form this company because we saw that other farmers were starting to organize. It’s a way for us to have a name when we go to the market or try to buy supplies in bulk. Haribhau handles the paperwork because he’s good with details, but we all put in the effort. It isn't a fancy operation by any means. Our meetings usually happen on someone’s porch or under a tree when we have a break from the work. We grow what everyone else grows around here, mostly depending on what the rain looks like. The company is just a tool for us. It’s not something we do for show. We just want to make sure our families are taken care of and that our crops don't go to waste because we couldn't find a buyer. Life is simple but it can be hard, and having this group makes the hard days a little easier to get through. We don’t have a big staff, just us and our shared goal of keeping our farms productive.
