Our place is at House Number 426 in Chapadgaon. If you know the Karjat area, you know how the weather can be. Nageshnana Ghanwat Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just us farmers from around the village trying to stick together. Living in A. Nagar district means you get used to the dust and the hard ground. We started this because doing everything alone was just becoming too much of a headache. Between the seeds costing more every year and the market prices bouncing around like crazy, we had to do something. So we registered this company. It is mostly just meetings around a table or out in the yard where we talk about what to plant next season. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that. It is just the house in Chapadgaon where we keep our records and try to stay organized. Most days involve a lot of walking through the rows and checking on the water. It’s hard work and your back hurts by evening, but that’s just life here. We are just trying to get a fair shake for the work we put in. Sometimes we disagree on things, but we usually figure it out over some tea. It feels better knowing the neighbors are facing the same problems and we are at least trying to solve them as a group now.
