In our village of Basanal Gaon, there are a lot of families who have been farming for generations. Maa Agneri Farmer Producer Company Limited is just the name we use to organize ourselves better. Kailash Chandra is one of the main people here who helps keep the papers in order. You’ll find us out in the Tehsil of Chaukhutiya most days, usually busy with whatever is in season. It gets quite hot in the summers and then the winters are sharp, so we have to plan ahead. We aren't experts in big business or anything like that. We just know how to grow things and how to help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks or the rain doesn’t come. The post office in Dhamdewal is where we get our mail, and it’s a bit of a walk from some of the fields. We don't have a website or fancy brochures because we'd rather spend that money on better seeds or fixing the sheds. It’s hard work, no doubt about that. Sometimes the crops don’t do what we want, but that’s just farming for you. We just want to make sure the folks in Basanal Gaon have a way to sell their stuff without getting cheated. It’s a humble operation, run by people who have dirt under their fingernails and a bit of worry about the clouds.
