Our place, Kartutva Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited, is located at 136/2 Chassinnar in Nashik. We work out of Sunil Shivaji Khainar’s premises. Nashik is known for its farming, and we are right in the middle of it in the 422606 area. The company is basically just a group of us who decided that we should work together instead of separately. We spend most of our mornings out in the fields and then come back to the office in the afternoon to sort things out. It’s a lot of talk about fertilizer, tractors, and the prices at the market. Some days the office is full of people and other days it’s just one person sitting there with the ledger. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just us. If someone has a problem, they just walk in and we talk about it over some water or tea. Working in the Chas area means we are part of a tight community. We try to help each other out when the harvest is heavy or when someone’s equipment breaks down. It’s not always easy and there are plenty of long nights, but it’s the life we chose. We just want to make sure the farmers around here get a fair shake for their hard work. It’s a honest living and we do our best with what we have each day, trying to keep everyone moving.
