Kalsubai Millet Farmers Producer Companylimited is based at 231 Karkhana Road. We’re in Akole, which is a nice town. The road we’re on is pretty well-known because of the karkhana nearby. We focus on millets because that’s what grows well around here. A lot of farmers in Akole have been growing these grains for generations. We decided to get together to make the selling part a bit easier. Our office at number 231 is where we meet and store some of the grain. It’s a simple brick building. Nothing too fancy. We spend our days talking to the growers and checking the millets to see if they are ready and good. It’s dusty work, especially when we’re moving the heavy bags around. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just know that millets are important and people want them. Sometimes we have meetings on the front step if the office is too full. It’s a very local operation. We all live nearby, so we see each other at the market or in town all the time. The work changes depending on the harvest cycle. When the millets are ready, it’s all hands on deck. We don't use any complicated business words. We just talk about the weather and the crops. It’s a honest way to earn a living in Akole. We’re just happy to keep the tradition of millet farming going in our own small way. It keeps us busy and pays the bills for us all.
