Jalkranti Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited started in Talegaon, which is part of the Sangamner area in Ahmednagar. Dadasaheb Changadeo Dighe is the one we usually coordinate through. We are a bunch of local farmers trying to make a go of it by working as a group. In this part of Ahmednagar, water is always on our minds, which is probably why we have Jalkranti in our name. Farming is the main thing here, and almost everyone you meet is involved in it somehow. We don't have a corporate headquarters; we mostly work out of a small space near the fields. It’s a lot of physical work and keeping track of what’s being planted and harvested. We decided to form this company so we could have a bit more say in how our produce is handled. It’s not a polished business with a marketing team. It’s just us, the people who actually dig the soil. We talk about the weather and the markets every single day because that’s what matters to our families. Life in Talegaon is pretty straightforward. You work hard, you hope for rain, and you try to get a fair price for your crops. We aren't looking to become famous or anything. We just want to make sure that the farming community here has a way to keep their heads above water and continue the work our fathers did before us.
