We are situated at 2700 Gunj Bazar, which is exactly as busy as it sounds. If you’ve been to the bazar, you know it’s a maze of shops and people moving goods all day long. At General Tubes Pvt.Ltd., we are surrounded by metal. There are stacks of tubes and pipes everywhere you look, and the smell of iron is pretty much permanent in our clothes. It’s a noisy business, with the sound of metal clanging together every time something is loaded or unloaded. The office is just a tiny corner carved out of the warehouse space, mostly to keep the dust off the ledgers. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If someone comes by, they usually just stand near the doorway while we talk. The workers are always moving, and we have to stay on our toes to make sure nothing gets mixed up in the chaos of the market. Gunj Bazar has its own rhythm, and we’ve been part of it for many years now. We don’t use any high-tech systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with handwritten notes and memory. It’s how we’ve always done it, and it seems to work fine. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a polished image. We’re just here to supply what’s needed and keep the wheels turning in this busy part of town. It’s tiring but it’s what we know.
