Gananjani Farmers Producer Company Limited is over at Kharatrautwadi. The office is basically at Dattatray Ganpat’s place. It’s a small operation, and we don't have a big sign or anything. Most of the people who come here are just locals from the village. We talk a lot about seeds and fertilizer and how to get them cheaper by buying in bulk. That was the whole idea behind starting Gananjani. The name has a nice ring to it, and it feels right for our community. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the small details of farming that people in the city don't really think about. There is always someone coming by to ask a question or check on a delivery. It gets a bit crowded in the room sometimes when everyone shows up at once. We don't have a receptionist or fancy tea; you just grab a seat where you can. Life in Kharatrautwadi is slow, but the work we do is constant. We have to keep track of everything on paper and then try to get it onto the computer when the power is actually on. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s what we have. We are just a bunch of people trying to look out for each other. Sometimes the meetings go long into the evening, but that is just part of how we run things here.
