Gadakh Farmer's Producer Company is located in Kalas Khurd, in the Akole Taluka. We are based at Prakash Sampatrao Gadakh’s place. It’s a rural area where everyone knows their neighbors. We’re a group of farmers who decided to pool our efforts together. Akole has its own challenges with the terrain and the weather. Some days are quite beautiful, but the farming is always tough work. We use the space at Prakash’s to store some of our supplies and to handle the paperwork that comes with running a producer company. It’s not a large operation. We have a few desks and a lot of registers. We spend the bulk of our time out on the slopes or in the fields checking the crops. We grow a variety of things depending on the time of year. We started this company because we wanted to have a collective voice when it comes to selling our produce. It’s hard to get a good price when you are just one person. Together, we have a bit more luck. We don't have any big marketing plans or anything like that. We just want to make sure our families can keep living on this land. It’s a lot of physical work and sometimes we worry about the rain, but that’s the life we chose. If you’re ever in Kalas Khurd, you’ll see us around. We’re just regular folks trying to make a living from the earth. We just keep at it every single day.
