Our group, Bhimaseena Farmer Producer Companylimited, is based out of Mr. Nabiso Kamalso Barudwale’s place in Bhandarkawthe. That’s in South Solapur, not too far from the main city but far enough to feel like the countryside. Being in 413221, we deal with the specific climate of Solapur, which can be pretty dry sometimes. We all live and work around here. The company is basically just a way for us farmers to pool our resources. We spend a lot of time at the post in Bhandarkawthe discussing what to do about the upcoming season. It’s not a high-tech operation. We have some notebooks, a few desks, and a lot of mud on our boots. We aren't trying to look like a big business. We’re just trying to make sure we don’t get cheated at the market. By working as one unit, we can buy what we need in bulk and sell our produce together. It’s hard, honest work. Some days are better than others, especially when the water is scarce. But we’ve lived here a long time and we know how to make do. We focus on what’s right in front of us—the land and the crops. It’s just a bunch of neighbors from South Solapur trying to keep their farms going through the year without too much trouble. We don't have fancy ways, just the old ways of working together as a community.
