We set up shop here in Mirajgaon, Karjat on G.N.214. It’s mostly just us farmers working together to handle the seeds and the crops better. Most days are spent out in the fields or back at the post checking on the stock we have. It’s not fancy. The office is right there in the village, so everyone knows where to find us if they need seeds or just want to talk about the harvest. Beej Shakti started because we needed a way to organize things on our own terms. Karjat can be a tough place to farm when the weather doesn’t play along, so having this group helps a bit. We deal with whatever the season brings. Sometimes it is busy, sometimes it is slow. We mostly focus on making sure the seeds are ready for planting when the rains start. People come by the post, and we sit down to figure out the distribution. There isn’t much paperwork that isn’t necessary. We just keep track of what is coming in and going out to the members. It has been a few years now, and the routine stays pretty much the same. We wake up early, get to the site, and start the work. If the equipment breaks, we fix it ourselves. It is just how things go around here. Mirajgaon is a small place, so word gets around fast. We like being right here where the actual farming happens instead of being off in some big city.
