S. K. Containers

We are S. K. Containers, and you can find us at Plot No. 527. We are very close to the Vatva Railway Station in the Gidc Estate, Vatva. You can hear the trains passing by all day long, which is something you get used to after a week or so of working here. The station being so close makes it easy for some of our workers to get here on time using the trains. We deal with containers of all sizes and shapes. The yard is usually full of stacks, and it takes some real skill to move the forklift around without hitting anything in the tight spaces. It is a bit of a maze sometimes when new shipments arrive. The ground is mostly gravel and dirt, so it gets quite muddy when it rains and the trucks leave deep tracks. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and the logbooks safe from the weather. We don't really have a formal way of doing things, we just know what needs to move and when it has to be gone. It is a lot of physical work, lifting and moving things in the hot sun. We wear old clothes because everything gets dirty and greasy pretty fast. Being in Vatva, there are a lot of other industrial shops nearby, so the road gets clogged with lorries in the evening. We try to get our loading done before the traffic gets too bad.
