St. Xavier'S High School

We are over in Naranpura, which is a pretty settled part of town. St. Xavier’s High School has been here for years, and most people in the neighborhood can point you to the gate if you get lost. It is a solid building with big hallways that stay relatively cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We have a playground that gets a lot of use, though the grass doesn't always stay green in the summer heat. The mornings are usually the loudest part of the day because of all the rickshaws and buses dropping off kids at the entrance. After that, it settles into a routine. The classrooms are basic, with wooden desks that have seen better days. We don't spend a lot of money on decorations or fancy signs. Most of our focus is just on keeping the place running and making sure there is enough chalk and paper for everyone. The staff has been around for quite some time, so there’s a lot of history in these halls. You see siblings of former students coming in now, and it feels like a big family. There is always some repair work going on, whether it is a leaky tap or a door that won't shut right. It’s a real place with real people. Nothing is perfect, but it works for us and the community here in Naranpura. We just keep things moving along day by day.
