Soniyo Family Salon

Soniyo Family Salon is right at Shah Alam Tolnaka. If you’re coming from the college side, we are directly opposite Swaminarayan College. It’s a very active spot in Ahmedabad. There are always students walking past or catching the bus. I think being near the college keeps the energy up around here. The shop isn't very big, but we call it a family salon because we see everyone—kids, parents, and the college students too. I’ve got a few chairs and some benches for people to wait. The walls are a bit plain, but I’ve got some big mirrors that make the room feel a bit larger than it actually is. I usually start the day by cleaning the glass on the front door because of all the fingerprints. I’ve worked in Shah Alam for years and I know the rhythm of the street. The traffic noise is something you just get used to after a week. I make sure we have enough supplies for the week, like shampoos and the different creams we use. Sometimes the students come in and want something very specific they saw on the internet, and I do my best to figure it out. It’s a simple shop, nothing too fancy. We just focus on the work and getting it right. I like sitting outside on a plastic chair for a few minutes when it’s quiet, just watching the people go by the Tolnaka.
