Colleges Salon

If you’re over in Bopal, Ahmedabad, you might have seen Colleges Salon at the Krishna Complex. Our shop is on Gala Zym Khana Road, which is a pretty busy spot these days. We’ve got a few chairs lined up in front of the mirrors where we do the hair cutting and styling. It’s not a giant place, but we have enough room for people to sit and wait their turn. You’ll usually hear the sound of hair dryers or the clatter of scissors going most of the afternoon. Since there’s a gym nearby, we get a lot of folks coming in after their workouts to get cleaned up or get a quick trim. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we are always sweeping it up between customers. We keep a stack of old magazines on the table for people to look at while they wait. The lighting is bright so we can see what we are doing with the razors. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front windows, but we have the fans going. We talk about all sorts of things with the regulars—mostly about the traffic in Ahmedabad or the local cricket scores. It’s just a neighborhood shop where you can get your hair done without any fuss. We keep our tools in those little rolling carts and try to stay organized. It’s a straightforward business, serving the people who live and work around Bopal.
