Sonika Hair Style

Our shop is right on the corner at Bhulabhai Cross Road. It is a busy spot near Gitamandir Road, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the buses and rickshaws going towards Kankaria. Sonika Hair Style is just a small place we have run for a while. We have the usual chairs and we try to keep the mirrors clear. It’s mostly just hair cutting here. We don't have many employees, just a couple of us who know how to handle a pair of scissors. People from the neighborhood come in quite often. We know many of them by name by now. It isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a normal door on the plot. We work long hours, especially during the festival times when everyone wants to look a bit neater. Sometimes the tea man brings us some chai and we take a five-minute break between customers. We don't have a website or anything like that. If the chair is empty, you can just sit down. We use standard shampoos and soaps. The floor gets swept many times a day because the hair piles up fast. It’s hard work being on your feet all day, but we are used to it. We just like doing a decent job for the people who live around this part of Ahmedabad. We just hope the fan keeps working.
