Snips The Unisex Salon

If you’re walking down Bhairavnath Road in Maninagar, you might see Snips The Unisex Salon at Shop-3 in the Shyamhari Complex. We’re right by the Vasant Nagar Cross Road, which is always a bit chaotic with all the rickshaws and bikes. The salon is a unisex place, so we get all sorts of people coming in. Some days it’s quiet, and I just sit and read the paper, but then three people will walk in at once. We’ve got the usual setup with the black chairs and the spray bottles. The mirrors are old but they work fine. I’ve lived in Ahmedabad all my life, so Maninagar feels like home. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but it’s where we do our work. I try to keep the place clean, but hair gets everywhere no matter how much I sweep. The cross road is a good landmark for people who haven't been here before. It can get pretty loud with the honking outside, especially during the rush hour. Sometimes I have to turn the radio up a bit just to hear what the customers are saying. We don’t do anything too crazy here, just standard cuts and shaves. It’s a decent living. I usually grab a snack from the stall nearby when there's a gap between customers. We stay open until the evening when the complex starts to get dark and the other shops close.
