Shriji Kesh Kala

I run Shriji Kesh Kala over in the Nandnavan Complex in New Vadaj. The shop is right near the Bhimjipura Cross Road. If you know that crossing, you know how busy it gets with all the shops and people moving around. Kesh Kala is a traditional name, and I try to keep that feeling in the shop. It’s not fancy. I have simple wooden drawers for my tools and a few sturdy chairs. The mirrors have some spots on the edges because they are old, but they show the reflection just fine. I usually have the news running on a small television in the corner so people have something to watch. New Vadaj is a hardworking area, and my shop reflects that. I don't offer anything strange or trendy, just honest hair cutting and shaving. The floor gets dusty because of the cross road, so I’m always cleaning. I’ve lived in Ahmedabad all my life and I like the energy of this neighborhood. Sometimes the kids from the complex come in just to say hello. It’s a small community here in Nandnavan. I take pride in keeping my scissors sharp and my shop open on time every single morning. There’s no secret to it, just showing up and doing the work for the people who live around Bhimjipura.
