My father started this shop a long time ago. We are located at shop sixty-six inside Ankur Complex. If you stand at the Ankur Bus Stand in Naranpura and look across the road, you will see the complex right there at the Char Rasta. It’s a very noisy corner because of all the buses and rickshaws, but once you step inside the shop, it feels a lot different. We mostly do men's hair. Typical stuff like cuts, shaves, and maybe a head massage if someone's had a long day at work. We have the old-style chairs that are actually quite comfortable. The floor is tile and easy to sweep. I’ve been working here since I was a teenager, helping my dad, and now I run it with one other guy. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a few posters of different hairstyles from a few years back. People come here because they know us and it’s convenient for them on their way home. We see the same faces every month. Sometimes we sit and talk about the cricket scores while I work. It’s not just about the haircut, it’s about the routine. We don’t take appointments usually; people just walk in and wait their turn. It’s a small life, but it’s ours. We keep the tools sharp and the water warm. That is really all there is to it.
