R.K.Hair And Care is located right on the ground floor near Gate Number 3 on the Naranpura Telephone Exchange Road. It’s a spot we’ve called home for a good number of years now. Being right across from Surya Apartment means we see the same faces every single day. The traffic on this road can get pretty loud, especially in the afternoons when everyone is rushing around, but inside the shop, it’s usually just the sound of the fans and the scissors. We keep things very straightforward here. There are no expensive decorations or complicated menus of things we do. It’s mostly just haircuts and shaves for the men and kids in the neighborhood. The floor is old tile and sometimes the door sticks a bit when the weather changes, but we don't mind much. We spend a lot of time talking to the guys who stop by for a quick trim. Everyone knows the telephone exchange landmark, so people never really get lost finding us. Between customers, we usually sit by the entrance and watch the bikes go by on the way to the market. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We try to keep the mirrors clean, though the dust in Naranpura makes it a constant task. It’s just a small, honest shop for the local people who don’t want anything too complicated or over the top. We stay open until the street lights come on in the evening.
