Raj Hair Saloon

Working in Babawad is pretty interesting because there is always something going on. We are right at the Laxminarayan Cross Road and honestly, the New Khokhra Police Station across the way is a good landmark for people trying to find us. Maninagar East is a busy part of Ahmedabad and it stays loud until pretty late. At Raj Hair Saloon, we just have our usual setup with the chairs and the big mirrors. It’s a practical space. We don’t have fancy stuff on the walls, just some old calendars and maybe a clock that runs a bit fast. The floor is usually covered in hair by noon because we get quite a few people coming in during their lunch breaks. We try to keep things moving so no one has to wait too long. Sometimes we have kids who are scared of the scissors and we have to be patient with them. It’s just us doing the work we know how to do. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we usually keep the door halfway shut to stay cool. People from the neighborhood stop by even if they don't need a haircut just to say hello or ask about someone. It feels like being part of a small village inside the big city. We just stay focused on the work and then head home when we're done.
