Paresh General Stores

My name is one of the few you see often around Sun Complex. We’ve been here at Paresh General Stores for quite some time now, right across from Lotus School. It gets pretty noisy when the kids get out of class, but that’s just how it is in this part of Ahmedabad. Being near Govindwadi means there is always someone walking by or stopping in for something they forgot at the bigger market. The shelves are mostly full of things people actually need every day. I spend a lot of my time just moving boxes around or checking what’s left in the back room. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop with a concrete floor and some old fans that hum all afternoon. People from the nearby apartments come in wearing their slippers, looking for tea or soap or whatever else ran out in their kitchen. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road for a bit, and we have to wait. It’s a bit dusty because of the traffic outside, but we try to keep things tidy enough. I know most of the faces that walk through the door by now. We don't really do much besides keep the doors open and make sure there’s enough stock for the morning rush. It’s a simple way to make a living here in 380001. Nothing much changes day to day, and I think that’s okay for a place like this one.
