Shree Lakshmi Bhandar

You can find us right on Dudheshwar Road, opposite the Jupiter Mill and just across from the Vadilal Ice Cream place. It’s a good spot because everyone knows those landmarks. We run a bhandar here, which means we have a bit of everything for the kitchen and the home. We sell grains, pulses, and other daily necessities. The shop is usually crowded with sacks of rice and flour. We don't have much room to move around, but we know where everything is kept. Customers come in all day, mostly people who live nearby or work at the shops around here. We spend a lot of time measuring out portions and chatting with the regulars. It’s not a supermarket where you pick things up yourself; we do the work for you. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the road for a bit, and we have to hurry to unload. The fans are always running to keep the place cool, but it still gets warm in the afternoon. We don’t do any advertising. People just see us when they go for ice cream or pass by the mill. We’ve been in this same spot for years, watching the traffic change on Dudheshwar Road. It’s a simple way to make a living. We just make sure we have what people need and keep the scale balanced. It’s just us and the customers, day in and day out. We close for a bit in the middle of the day when the sun is too high above the street.
