If you’re looking for S H Engineering Works, we’re right by the new water tank over at Plot L-619 in Gidc. The water tank is a good landmark because people always seem to get lost in this section of the estate. We do a lot of fabrication and general engineering work here. It’s a noisy environment with all the grinding and hammering going on, but it’s a productive kind of noise. We’ve got a small team, maybe six or seven of us on a good day. We spend most of our time bent over workbenches or moving heavy steel beams around. It isn't the cleanest place in the world, there’s metal shavings everywhere, but we sweep up every Friday. We don't really do any advertising, we just rely on the fact that we've been in this same spot for years and people know we’re here. The office is just a tiny room with a desk and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. We do the billing and the drawings in there when it’s not too loud outside. It’s practical work. We fix things, we build things, and we try to make sure the measurements are as close as possible. Sometimes a project takes longer than we thought because the material wasn't quite right, but we always finish it. That’s just how we operate. It's a bit of a grind, but the work is steady.
