You can find Rang Bandhej Pvt. Ltd. over at C-1 in the Chinai Baug Estate. The estate is a busy place with a lot of different small companies working side by side. Our unit is filled with fabrics and the smell of various dyes. We do a lot of traditional work and it involves a lot of water and big vats. The floors are usually a bit stained from the colors we use. It’s a messy process but that’s how it works. We have racks where the cloth hangs to dry and it looks like a sea of different patterns when you walk through. The sun comes into the estate and helps dry things out on the clear days. We have a small office corner but most of the action happens out on the main floor. The staff has been here a long time and they know the patterns by heart. It’s noisy with the sounds of fans and people calling out to each other. We don't have a showroom here because it’s mostly for production. If you come by you’ll see people bent over fabrics doing the tie and dye work by hand. It takes a lot of patience and the hours can be long during the busy season. Chinai Baug Estate has its own busy energy and we just fit right into the mix of it all. We usually eat lunch together in the small alleyway when the weather is nice enough.
