New Ambica Hair Saloon

If you live in Amraiwadi, you probably know where the Torrent Power office is. Our saloon is right near there. It’s called New Ambica, though we’ve been here long enough that it doesn’t feel new anymore. It’s a simple setup. We have a few chairs and some old magazines for people waiting. The area is quite busy with workers and local families. We start early in the morning because that’s when people want their shaves before heading to work. Ahmedabad summers are tough, so we try to keep the shop cool with fans. We don't do all that fancy stuff you see in malls. It’s just hair cutting and grooming. We know most of the people who walk through the door. Sometimes the power goes out, but being near Torrent Power, it usually comes back fast. My father started this kind of work, and I just kept it going here in Amraiwadi. It’s an honest living. We don't spend money on big signs or posters. Word of mouth is how people find us. You come in, get your hair trimmed, maybe have a quick chat about the weather, and you're on your way. It’s a practical place for practical people. Nothing fancy, just the way we like it. We open the doors by eight or nine in the morning and keep going until the sun goes down and the street gets quiet. It is what it is, a place for a haircut and a shave for the neighborhood people.
