You can find us at D/11 in the Nilmani Apartments. We are located right opposite the Sarthi Row Houses, near the Sonal Cross Roads on Gurukul Road in Ahmedabad. It is a very busy part of the city, so there is always the sound of scooters and rickshaws honking outside our windows. Being in Memnagar means we are right in the thick of things. Our office usually has a strong smell of cumin or chili powder, depending on what kind of spices we have been handling that morning. The apartment is on the ground floor, which makes it a lot easier for us to move the small bags in and out without too much trouble. We do not have a fancy showroom with lights. It is mostly just stacks of spice sacks and some weighing scales on the tables. The floor in the back room is a little bit uneven, so we have to be careful about where we put the heavier items. We spend a lot of our time on the phone talking to suppliers or chatting with people who just walk in from the street to see what we have. The cross roads are always jammed with traffic in the evenings, so we usually wait a bit before heading home. It is a family-run operation, so we do not worry about formal clothes or strict rules. We just focus on the spices and making sure the customers are okay.
