B M C Farm Fresh Vegetables

We run B M C Farm Fresh Vegetables from our location in Anneshwara, specifically at Amraiwadi 73. It’s a very early start for us every single day. The trucks arrive while it’s still dark, and we have to unload crates of vegetables as fast as we can. It’s cold in the mornings, and the produce is often wet with dew or mist. Your hands get stained and dirty almost immediately. We don't have a fancy store with glass windows. It’s a mostly open space at Amraiwadi 73 where we stack the crates and sort through the goods. We spend a lot of time tossing out the bruised stuff and making sure the rest is okay. Anneshwara is a busy neighborhood once the sun comes up. We get a lot of people stopping by to see what we have. We don't have a price list on a screen; we just tell people what things cost. The floor is usually covered in stray leaves and bits of mud from the crates. We sweep it out when we have a quiet moment. It’s a very physical job and we are usually pretty tired by the time we close up. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just us doing the work. We buy the vegetables from the farmers and sell them here. That’s the whole story. It’s practical and it keeps us busy. We just try to get the produce sold before it wilts.
