Our shop is located in Hathipura, right across from the old Madhupura area. If you are looking for the Amarpura Hindi School in Bardolpura, we are just opposite that. It is a busy spot with a lot of people moving back and forth all day. We deal with seeds and fertilizers, what people call khaad and beej. Most of our day is spent talking to farmers or people who have small plots of land nearby. They come in asking what will grow best this season or why their crops are looking a bit yellow. We don't pretend to know everything, but we have been doing this long enough to give some practical advice based on what we see working for others. The shop smells like earth and sacks of grain. It is a bit cramped inside because we have to stack the bags high to make room for everyone to stand. Sometimes the school kids across the street make a lot of noise during their break, but we are used to it by now. We open the shutters early in the morning because that is when the farmers like to get their supplies before heading out for the day's work. It is a plain business. We sell the stuff, we take the cash, and we help load the heavy bags onto the cycles or carts. We don't have a big staff, just family mostly, and we take turns sitting at the counter.
