Taarika Sarees

You can find Taarika Sarees over at No. 101 Tirupati Estate. We are right opposite Swastik Bansidhar on N. H. No. 8 in Narol. Being so close to the highway means there is a constant sound of trucks rumbling past, which you eventually just stop hearing after a week. Our space in the estate is basically one big room filled with color. Sarees are everywhere you look, stacked in plastic covers to keep the highway dust off the fabric. Keeping the place tidy is a real job because showing one saree often involves pulling out ten others for the customer to see. A lot of time is spent just refolding things. My hands have gotten used to the feel of different fabrics over the years. This isn't a big corporate chain, just a local business trying to make a living. Whenever the electricity goes out for an hour, we just sit outside on the steps and chat with the neighbors from the other units. Having a website isn't something we've done; we just rely on people stopping by or calling us up. It gets pretty hot in the summer because the roof is metal, but the fans are strong enough. The focus is always on what’s right in front of us, checking the patterns and making sure nothing is snagged. It’s a simple way to spend the day, really, among all the silk and cotton.
