Live On The Family Salon

We are located out by Dariyapur Gate on the Amarpura Road. This part of Ahmedabad is always crowded and there is a lot of history in these streets. The shop is right there where the families from Dariapur can easily get to us. We call it a family salon because we get everyone from grandfathers to little kids coming in. It is a small space and it can get a bit cramped when three or four people are waiting, but nobody seems to mind much. We have a few chairs and the usual equipment you would expect. The noise from the street is constant—there are always rickshaws and vendors passing by. We start early in the morning, usually before the heat gets too intense. The floor is tile and we have to sweep it every hour because of all the hair. It is not a place with fancy decorations or expensive lighting. We just have the basics that we need to do our work. People come here because they know us and we are right on their way home. We have been working in this area for a while and have seen the shops around us change names and owners, but we just keep doing what we do. It’s a hard day's work but it is honest. We don't really have a big story, just a shop near the gate where we cut hair and try to keep things running.
