If you’re looking for us, we’re up on the upper level of Jay Kunj Complex on Stadium Road. It’s actually a pretty good spot because we’re right above Maharaj Samosa Centre. You can usually smell the snacks frying in the afternoon, which sometimes makes us hungry while we’re working. We’re right across from Lifecare Hospital, so there’s always something happening on the street outside. The shop is at number 6, and you have to walk up the stairs to get to us. It’s a bit quieter up here than it is on the ground floor, which is nice when things get hectic. We’ve been in Navrangpura for a while now and we know most of the people who live in the apartments nearby. The interior is just basic—some chairs, big mirrors, and the tools we need to get the job done. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle hair. Sometimes the air conditioner takes a minute to cool the place down when it’s really hot outside, but we get by. We try to keep the place looking decent, though the floor is usually covered in hair by the end of a busy Saturday. It’s just how it goes in a salon. We like being in this part of Ahmedabad because everything is so close. People usually stop in after they finish their work or before they head out for dinner at one of the spots on Stadium Road.
