Kamal Hair Art

Naranpura is a place that hasn't changed much for us. Kamal Hair Art is tucked into Shop Number 3 in the Gujarat Housing Board area. It’s right on Vijaynagar Road. Most people around here just call it the Pragati Nagar area. We've been cutting hair in this same spot for a while. The shop is small and sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise, but it works. We have those heavy barber chairs that have seen a lot of years. Every morning, we sweep the front and open the shutters. You see a lot of older men from the housing board coming in for their weekly shave or a trim. They usually sit and talk about the news or the cricket scores while they wait. It’s not a place with bright lights or loud music. It’s just a regular barber shop. We have the usual combs and scissors, and the mirrors are a bit old but clear enough. Naranpura can get quite busy during the school run, so it gets noisy outside. We don't have a website or anything fancy like that. People just walk in because they live nearby or they've been coming here since they were boys. It’s a steady kind of life. We close up when the sun goes down and do it all again the next day. It’s simple work but we like being part of the neighborhood.
