Kalkutta Hair Art

If you know Fool Gali near Teen Darwaja, you know how crowded it gets with the flower sellers and the people rushing to Dhalgarwad. Our shop, Kalkutta Hair Art, is right in the middle of all that noise. It’s a small space, and honestly, it gets pretty hot in the afternoons when the sun is hitting the street. We have a couple of old ceiling fans that we keep on high speed all day. This part of Ahmedabad is always moving, so we don't really have a quiet moment. People stop by for a quick haircut or a shave while they are out doing their shopping or working in the market. We use simple razors and scissors, nothing fancy or high-tech here. The mirrors are old and have a few spots on them, but they do the job just fine. You can hear the vendors shouting outside while you sit in the chair. It’s been this way for a long time. We don't have a fancy waiting area, just a wooden bench where people sit and talk about the news or the weather. Sometimes it feels like the whole city is passing by our door. We just try to get the work done and keep the line moving so nobody has to wait too long in the heat. It’s a busy spot but we like being where the action is. It's just a simple life in a crowded alley.
