Sindhi Market is a very crowded place to be, especially where we are situated at 185. Revdi Bazar is always full of people moving carts and boxes around. I spend most of my working hours behind the small counter or checking the stock we keep in the back room. It’s a tight space, so you really have to be careful not to trip over the bundles of cloth. I’ve been working under the name K. Rakesh for a lot of years now. Most people in the bazar know exactly where to find me. They come in looking for specific items, and I try my best to find them in the tall stacks. Sometimes I honestly forget where I put a certain roll, and it takes me a good few minutes to dig it out. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim, but I know the layout of the shelves by heart. We don’t do any big promotions or ads. If someone likes what they buy, they usually come back or tell their cousins. That’s better for us anyway. The tea guy comes around twice every day, and that’s when I take my only real break. It’s incredibly loud out in the street with all the shouting and the horns, but once you’re inside here, it feels a little calmer. Just me and the goods on the shelves. I don't plan on changing anything. Some days are slow and some are fast.
