K C Industries General Stores is over in the 380001 part of Ahmedabad. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of foot traffic. Our shop is a humble place. We don’t have those big glass windows or fancy displays. Instead, we have rows of shelves filled with household goods and hardware items. It’s a bit of a mix because people around here need all sorts of different things. One person might want a bag of sugar while the next is looking for a specific type of bolt or a lightbulb. We try to keep it all in stock, though sometimes we run out of things unexpectedly. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but you can see well enough to find what you're looking for. We’ve been operating out of this same building for a long time now. The counter is worn down from years of people leaning on it while they wait for their change. It’s just the way things are. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. Sometimes we sit outside on a plastic chair when it's slow. We know the neighbors and their kids. It feels more like a community spot than a business sometimes. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure we have enough stock for the next day. It’s a quiet life, but it suits us fine.
