Honey Beauty Parlour

Honey Beauty Parlour is tucked away in Khadia, right near May Chowk and the Heeramoti Chamber. If you know the Golwad area, you know how narrow and busy these streets can get with all the people and scooters moving around. The shop is located at 971, and it is a small, cozy space where local women come to get their threading or hair done. I spend most of my day here surrounded by bottles of shampoo and various combs. The light inside is a bit bright because of the tubelights we installed last year to see everything clearly. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when three or four neighbors show up at the same time to chat while waiting for their turn. You can hear the sounds of the market just outside the door, and there is always someone passing by and saying hello. We don’t have any big waiting room, just a couple of plastic stools and a bench for people to sit. I usually keep a small radio playing some old songs in the background to make the place feel more comfortable. It is a lot of hard work standing on my feet all day, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants to look nice, but it is a good way to stay connected with the people in this part of Ahmedabad. The floor gets covered in hair quickly, so I am always reaching for the broom between customers.
