Gvp Furniture is tucked away behind the Vishwakarma Temple on the road between Chandlodia and Gota. It’s a workshop where we spend most of our time covered in sawdust. We make beds, tables, and cupboards for folks living nearby. I learned how to work with wood from my uncle when I was a teenager and I’ve been doing it ever since. The shop isn't a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s mostly just wood piles, saws, and a few finished pieces waiting to be picked up. We don't have a big sales team. Usually, you’ll just find me or one of the guys working on a project. People come to us when they want something that isn't made of cheap plastic or thin boards. We use solid wood when we can get it. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane behind the temple, but we manage. We don't do any big advertising. Most of our work comes from people walking by and seeing us working or from someone who bought a table from us five years ago and needs a new one. We just try to make things that last a long time so people feel they got their money's worth. It’s simple, honest work. The hours are long and the work is hard on the back, but it’s what we know how to do. We aren't looking to become a giant factory. We like things just the way they are.
