We've been here at Laxmi Vishnu Market for a while now. Ghee Kanta is always busy, and our shop at number 240 is right in the middle of it. We mostly handle different types of fabrics and outfits. It gets pretty crowded around here during the day, but we like the pace. Most of our work involves checking orders and making sure everything looks right before it goes out to the shops. It’s just a few of us working here in Ahmedabad. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a workspace filled with cloth and thread. Sometimes the morning tea guy stops by and that's usually the highlight of our morning. People come in looking for specific designs and we try to get them what they need without too much fuss. Dealing with suppliers takes up a lot of our time, honestly. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking stock lists. Ahmedabad has a long history with textiles, so we're just one small part of that big tradition. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the job at hand. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big shipment arrives. We just stay busy and keep the machines running. It’s a decent living and we know our neighbors around the market pretty well. That’s about all there is to it. We hope to stay here for many more years.
