The easiest way to find us is to look for the Naranpura Post Office because we are directly opposite it. It’s a handy spot because I can run across to mail things if I need to. The shop itself isn’t huge, but we make it work with what we have. We’ve got the usual stuff you’d expect in a local beauty parlor. There’s a bit of a wait sometimes if three people show up at once, so we have a couple of plastic chairs by the door. I try to keep the magazines updated, but sometimes they’re a few months old. Naranpura is a nice neighborhood, very residential, so we see the same faces every week. It’s nice knowing people by their first names and hearing about their families. We do threading, waxing, and the basic hair stuff that people need for their day-to-day lives. The lighting in the shop is a bit bright, but you need that to see what you’re doing. Sometimes the air conditioner makes a weird humming sound, but it keeps the place cool during the Ahmedabad summers. It’s a simple business, nothing too fancy, just honest work in a regular apartment building.
