Diwan Ballubhai School (Kankaria)

Diwan Ballubhai School (Kankaria) is tucked away behind the Abad Dairy. We are right opposite Vijya Bhavan in the Kankaria neighborhood. If you are familiar with this part of the city, you know it can get quite busy with the dairy traffic and people heading toward the lake. Our school has been a fixture here for many years. The building shows its age a little bit, but it is solid. We have several floors of classrooms where the students spend their mornings and afternoons. You can hear the sounds of the city outside, but once the lessons start, we try to focus on the work. The area around Vijya Bhavan is always moving. We have parents dropping off kids on scooters and the occasional bus blocking the narrow street. It is just how life is in Kankaria. The teachers here are used to the hustle and bustle. We have a small staff room where we drink tea and plan the next hour. There is nothing very corporate about us. We are just a local school trying to provide a place for education. The floors are swept every day, and the bells ring on time. Sometimes the fans squeak, and sometimes the chalk breaks, but we just keep going. It is an honest place to work. Most of the families around here have been sending their kids to us for generations, and we see them every morning.
