Ghammar (The Patola Saree)

We are based out of Sarkhej, right near the Anand Ashram on Dholka Road. It is a busy spot but we really like the energy here. We deal with Patola sarees, which is something we have been around for a very long time. Our shop is at 243 Fatehvadigam. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic passing by outside, but inside it is full of colors and different fabrics. We spend most of our days unfolding heavy fabric and showing various patterns to folks who stop by to take a look. These sarees take a lot of work to make, and we try to keep a decent variety on the shelves for people to choose from. It is not a mall or anything fancy like that. Just a regular shop where you can touch the silk and see the weave for yourself. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power is acting up in the neighborhood, but we just carry on with our work. We know most of the neighbors by name now. My hands usually have a bit of lint on them from handling the clothes all day. It is honest work and we enjoy it. We do not do big advertisements. Mostly people just find us by word of mouth or by seeing our sign near the Ashram. It is a family thing, really. We just want to make sure the sarees are good and people go home happy with what they bought.
