Deepak Carpets

Deepak Carpets is located at Chandrabhaga Seva Kendra, right across from Udhyog Bharati in the Thakorvas area of Wadaj. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us. We have carpets of all sizes rolled up and leaning against every available wall. When we unroll a big one to show a customer, it takes up the whole floor and we have to move the chairs out of the way. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and rolling these heavy things. The air always has a bit of a wool smell to it. We aren't a big company with a lot of employees, it’s just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We know which rugs are hand-knotted and which ones came from a factory just by touching them. Wadaj is a busy neighborhood and we feel like part of the community here. Sometimes we sit outside and talk to the neighbors while the sun goes down. We don’t have any fancy sales tactics or brochures. We just show people what we have and let them decide. If they like a carpet, we help them tie it to the top of their car or find a way to get it to their house. It’s just a regular carpet shop where we work hard and try to stay honest about what we are selling. We’ve been here for ages and we plan to stay.
