Cosmic General Stores

Running Cosmic General Stores here in Ahmedabad keeps us pretty busy from morning until late at night. The address is in the 380001 area, so there is always a lot of traffic and people walking by. We sell the usual things you would expect from a general store like milk, bread, biscuits, and those little household items that everyone forgets to buy until they run out. The shop isn't very big but we use every inch of the wall space to hang packets and stack boxes. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once. I usually sit near the entrance where it is a bit cooler. We see the same faces every day, which is nice because we know what they want before they even ask. Dealing with the wholesalers can be a bit of a headache sometimes, especially when prices change or things are out of stock. We just try to keep things moving. There isn't anything fancy about how we work. We just open the shutters, dust the jars, and wait for the first customer. Ahmedabad gets very hot, so we usually have a cold water jar kept aside for anyone who needs it. It is just a standard way to earn a living. We have been in this spot for years and the neighborhood has changed a lot, but the shop stays mostly the same. Just a place for everyday stuff.
